After an early start and breakfast, you will load the equipment and begin the day’s trek. Today’s route crosses hamada (stony desert), with jagged mountains rising up to 1400m to the east, while to the west and northwest the open desert descends toward the Dead Sea (400m below sea level). The morning route passes around several small hills, then continues across open desert toward Wadi Barwaz at the foot of the mountains for lunch. A wadi is a dried-up riverbed or water course, common in this landscape. After lunch and a short rest, you will head south-west, gradually descending across hamada and later into a region of small sand dunes in Wadi Araba. Camp again under clear, starry night skies.
